I'm fed on Vets Choice
There is no doubt that those who visited this year’s Gardenex
Exhibition held at the Dome in Northgate, Gauteng, would have been absolutely
amazed at the Royal Canin/ Keith Kirsten stand, winner of the show’s
Gold Award for the best stand.
Stand designer, Ray Hudson, used the services of Moosewood, renowned
furniture manufacturers, to construct the awesome wooden shed on the
Keith Kirsten side of the stand. Moosewood has also manufactured furniture
for many hotels across the world including Monte Casino, Michael Angelo,
Hyatt and the Royal Mirage in Dubai, testament to their quality of furniture
manufacture.
Moosewood owner, Sandy von Falkenhausen, and Vets Choice Brand Manager,
Michelle Christie, were discussing the fabulous stand design over a
glass of wine or three, when, inevitably, the discussion moved to dog
food. Well, as it turns out, Sandy’s two Boerboels, Zulu and Sydney
are fed on Vets Choice.
You may be asking why Zulu and Sydney. Sandy fills us in, “I
spent a number of years “down under” in Australia. When
I got my two Boerboels, I wanted their names to resemble a bit of Africa
and Australia. Zulu and Sydney are named after each country, giving
me great memories of the two places every time I see them.”
Zulu, a stout male Boerboel, is often seen on the back of Sandy’s
4X4, travelling from Bryanston to the Moosewood factory near Krugersdorp.
Sandy says that Zulu is his “anti-hawker” device, keeping
any street hawker at bay very effectively.
Sandy has trained Zulu and Sydney very well. Following the advice of
a veterinarian, Sandy has taught his dogs to ask politely for food and
have to sit and offer him a “paw-shake” before meals. They
do this every day when they sit down for their evening meals. Both dogs
are treated to a walk with their owner 4 times a week, or enjoy some
play time in their huge garden in Bryanston.
