Keith Kirsten – Gardening Guru and Television Celebrity loves his Dobermans

South Africa’s gardening guru, Keith Kirsten, loves to spend quality time with his three Dobermans; Shaka, Zulu and Dingaan, after a hard day filming his popular television programme.

With plenty of room at his magnificent home, which is also an office for him and his staff, Paul, Jane and Wessel, the three gorgeous and friendly Dobermans roam playfully all day long in the majestic garden with Keith’s personal and ever-elegant touches apparent in every flower bed.

As you all know, Keith Kirsten plays host to Royal Canin and Vets Choice on his weekly show on SABC 2. The show features Keith profiling the most stunning gardens across South Africa and also highlights Royal Canin super-premium and Vets Choice premium foods.

Filming and producing his own garden show takes up most of Keith’s time. The planning and co-ordination requires a monumental effort from Keith and his team. Flying across the country with equipment and crew can be extremely strenuous. Arriving at the various destinations, filming can take up to a week for one programme alone. Keith is planning a 26-episode series beginning in January 2006 and planning and filming has already started.

Keith begins his day very early and often works late into the evenings filming, editing and doing voice-overs for the programme. In this tight schedule he still finds time to support a number of ventures and charities that demand his keen gardening eye and his time.

“Together with Royal Canin, we aim to attract the consumer to the veterinary practice.” says Keith. “Having three Dobermans demanding a lot of attention as well as a lot of food, I understand the importance of the veterinarian in the lives of animals and the significance a healthy diet has in maintaining a healthy pet. It is crucial that we educate the consumer that the role of the veterinarian is vital in improving the quality of the lifestyles of pets.”
